The noisy urban backdrop you hear throughout the entire song was actually recorded back in December 2012, when I was visiting Hong Kong for a couple months. The city is an incredibly lively place. I was always inspired by the sounds I heard around me, so before I left, I made my way to Mong Kok (one of the busiest districts in the world, according to Mr. Wikipedia) to capture the atmosphere. Throughout the song, notice a peculiar ticking sound that changes speed from time to time. It comes from the pedestrian lights (audio aid for the visually impaired), and is one of the many staples in Hong Kong's urban soundscape.
